Content removal

How to ask BetterLang to take a public page down, what to include, and what happens next.

Who we are

BetterLang is a language-learning app. People read, watch and listen to texts, videos and songs in the language they are learning, and save the words they meet as Cards — a Card holds the word and its sentence, never a copy of the page. Removal requests go straight to the founder, who owns this process.

What the site publishes

The public Discover pages carry texts written for language learners (labelled as such on each page), lyrics in the public domain, and videos played with YouTube's own player and credited to their channel.

Some pages are shared by learners and labelled “Shared by a learner”. They go live after automated checks and an AI copyright review — for a shared video, the review can follow shortly after it goes live. A removal request about a learner-shared page suspends it immediately while it is reviewed.

Ask for a removal

Name every page you are asking about, say who you are and how to reach you, and explain the basis of the request — for example copyright in a text, transcript or lyrics; a licence that does not cover this use; or personal information in a page.

What happens next

  • Within two business days of a plausible request, the page is set to noindex and removed from the sitemap, so search engines and AI search stop listing it while we look into it.
  • A page shared by a learner is suspended as soon as your request arrives.
  • Asking for your YouTube channel takes down every page imported from it, and new imports from it are refused.
  • After review, the page is removed: its address answers 410 Gone and it leaves Discover.
  • We reply to the email address you give. Counter-notices are handled by the founder: if you believe a removal was wrong, reply to that email.
